Dane Riley
Dane Maurice Scott Riley. What's in a name? Everything. Born and raised in
Washington D.C., and known to all as the man with many talents, Dane got his
start in Music at a very young age. And coming from a musical family, (The Ruffin
family), and his cousins being the late Billy Stewart (I Do Love You) the late David
Ruffin (The Temptations) and Grace Ruffin (The Famous Jewels), it all makes
scense. It's all about MUSIC.
At the tender age of 5, he remembered sitting at the end of the piano while Billy
Stewart was rehearsing with his group that included his mother and his aunts,
known as (The Bruton Sisters) which would be singing background vocals. After
spending a few years between his grandmothers and his aunts house, Dane was
taught vocal skills and vocal harmonies. And between the ages of 8-11 years of age,
he was singing with his first cousins Geryl and Kevin (T. K.). They would sing at
just about every church in the area, and they would perform to standing room only
congregations of all denominations.
Dane has received numerous awards and commendations from his community and
peers, and is well respected by all who know him in his community. With that said,
what happened to the MUSIC? Well nothing. During the time all of his life changes
were going on, Dane still found the time every now and then to write and record his
MUSIC, which he says "is always there inside of me, and has to come out". "I
hear MUSIC all of the time, even in my sleep". So after years of prayer and
meditation, and wondering what to do next, a Divine Guidance came over him and
told him to "do everything you know how to do, and do it with an inspired passion".
His grandmother told him to " always put God first in everything you do...let him
guide and Inspire you and the rest will fall into place the way it is meant to be".
With a new POSITIVE attitude on life, Dane got back to business, learning how to
manage his (social) life and career while writing and recording his MUSIC.
Releasing several albums in only a few years, his creative musicianship and
INSPIRATIONAL juices are always flowing, and he wants to share it through his
MUSIC and this web-site, with everyone. Dane also wants to be able to INSPIRE
and help MOTIVATE others who need an uplifting in life or whatever they desire.
Dane is a man who strives for the best in everything he attempts to do, and
knowing that life can sometimes throw you curves in the process, a POSITIVE
attitude and constant FAITH will get you through the rough times. MUSIC is only
one of Dane's passions and talents. The LOVE of his FAMILY and close
FRIENDS are another, but his LOVE for GOD and the understanding of life, helps
him to conquer them all......With this I give you D.M.S.R
